Apply for a Service Dog

Adding a service dog to your life is a big commitment. Starting here doesn't commit you to anything — it just lets us schedule a conversation.

What to expect

This page is a first step, not the full application — the real application includes health information, a letter of recommendation, personal essays, and several signed releases, and we handle that privately once we've talked, not over a public web form.

Here's the honest shape of the process:

Initial interview

Usually in person. If you live more than 250 miles away, we can start over Zoom, with an in-person interview required before placement. Travel is waived in most cases for MCAS and similar conditions that prevent travel.

Cost

$23,000

Includes the dog's adoption fee (unless it exceeds $400) and training. Travel, lodging, and meals for delivery and training are separate if applicable.

Training

Roughly two weeks of full-day training once a dog is placed — lectures, public-access work, and hands-on practice. Not a vacation, but not all-consuming either.

After graduation

Regular follow-up (daily, then weekly, then monthly), at least one Graduate Support Class a year, and ongoing certification to keep your team active.

Tell us a little about what you're looking for — we'll follow up to schedule an interview and send the full application.

Thanks — your email client should have opened with your message. Send it, and we'll follow up to schedule an interview.
